Exciting New Garden Centre Development at Perrywood Sudbury

Exciting New Garden Centre Development at Perrywood Sudbury

Construction is progressing on our new garden centre project at Perrywood Sudbury, promising to deliver an exceptional shopping and leisure destination for our customers.

This development is set to elevate the site to the same high standard as our Perrywood Tiptree garden centre.

The development will represent a significant investment in the local area and we hope it will become a destination of choice for gardening enthusiasts and families alike.

Targeted Opening Date
We aim to open the new garden centre this Autumn, although the timeline is subject to change as the project progresses.

September

Hannah and team have been deciding on the colour for the Perrywood letters in our new entrance sign.

We are making good progress with the new garden centre build. Recently completed jobs include:

  • More than 30 people have been offered job roles and are due to start over the next few weeks. We can’t wait to welcome them to the team.
  • Our owner, Alan Bourne, has been working with others to plant several trees in and around our new car park.
  • Track lighting in the shop
  • Paint and tiles in the Coffee Shop & Restaurant
  • Flooring and cubicles in the customer toilets
  • Coffee Shop & Restaurant menu design
  • Fencing
  • Car park white lining

From the outside, it may look like the new garden centre is finished, but there is plenty more to be done before we can open, including:

  • Flooring in Coffee Shop & Restaurant and non retail areas
  • More plumbing and electrical work, including Coffee Shop & Restaurant decorative lighting
  • More painting
  • Car park signs
  • Interior directional signs
  • Entrance sign
  • Restaurant fixed seating, counter and decorative ceiling rafts
  • Kitchen installation
  • Staff training

Once our contractors complete the ‘fit out’ phase, our team moves in to bring in stock, displays, till counters, and more! This is a large job that is being planned in meticulous detail.

July

Block paving is in place for our outdoor plant area. And it's nearly finished under the two canopies, where you will be able to find bedding plants and garden products. We can't wait to fill it with lovely plants!

June

Our Buyers, Visual Merchandiser and Communications Manager were lucky enough to get a hard hat tour of the building and wow, what a space!

Led by Directors Tristan and Simon, the team explored the vast new layout and gathered around the floor plan to discuss the whereabouts of each of their areas to be filled with our inspirational products.

The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and anticipation.

May

The new garden centre build was springing to life. Cladding had transformed the building exteriors, flooring installation was underway, windows had been fitted, and the true scale of the structures had begun to emerge.

March

The garden centre buildings started to take shape.

The tarmac to the new garden centre was laid. The roof was nearing completion with vents being added.

February

The Sudbury team had a tour around the site to see all the development work.

The majority of earthworks to level the site are now complete, laying the groundwork for the next stages of construction.

A Modern, Enhanced Visitor Experience

Once completed, the new garden centre will feature:

A spacious retail area designed to offer a wider selection of plants, gardening essentials and home and giftware.

A 200-seat coffee shop and restaurant, providing a welcoming space to relax and enjoy quality refreshments.

Ample parking facilities, ensuring convenient access for visitors.
