Sharing the Joy of Christmas!

Sharing the Joy of Christmas!

For the last nine years, over the Christmas period, we have been giving out planted containers to individuals in our local community who, for one reason or another, deserve some Christmas cheer.

This year these planters were given to:

Hope for Tomorrow nurses and patients on local cancer care buses Maureen (Colchester based) and Frisbey (West Suffolk based).

Hope for Tomorrow raise funds to purchase and maintain mobile cancer units that offer treatment for those needing treatment for cancer. They bring cancer care facilities into the heart of communities making it more convenient and less stressful for patients.

The Red Rose Community Farm (The Befriending Scheme) for the amazing volunteers who kindly give up their time to support this important charity.

The Red Rose Community Farm provides a therapeutic environment with friendship and learning opportunities for those with learning disabilities, people suffering from ill mental health, and vulnerable children and families.

Louise Smith, Senior Communications Manager at Perrywood comments, “Delivering the Christmas Cheer planters is one of my favourite aspects of my job role. After supporting Hope for Tomorrow for the last two years it was wonderful to visit our local buses Maureen and Frisbey, and see them in action. The benefit the mobile units bring to the cancer patients was immediately clear. There was a very relaxed atmosphere with two friendly,  welcoming nurses and four smiling patients – a much nicer experience for those that struggle with hospital visits.  The team at Sudbury have built a strong bond with The Befriending Scheme and they very much enjoyed gifting our Christmas Cheer planters for their dedicated volunteers.”
