Creating your summer table

A garden party is the perfect time to experiment with decorating your table. Our Visual Merchandiser Amber shares her top tips to help you wow your guests with a stunning table display.

Tablescapes are best when they are beautiful yet functional. The best way to ensure you get your desired look is to have a play around with different textures and layers.

Start with your chosen table cloth or runner, then bring in your napkins, crockery and any centre pieces.

Choosing the right crockery

Using mix and match pieces can be a great look. Play around with layering to see what you think works best.

Tie it, knot it or fold it

With so many ways to display a napkin, the key is to experiment. My personal favourite is to tie a knot. I find something so rustic yet perfect about it.

Colours and added touches

Choose a colour scheme to match the style you want and add some small lanterns, candle holders or glassware.

Real flowers from the garden or artificial stems can add height, texture and a natural look to your table.

Try battery powered string lights and citronella candles (to keep the midges away) to add a warm glow once the sun goes down.
