'How to'? Plant a Bulb Spring Surprise

Plant your autumn and winter bedding on top of a layer of spring bulbs, and you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful burst of colour when spring arrives!

What do you need?

Step 1: Add a layer of gravel or broken terracotta pots to the bottom of your container to help with drainage.

Step 2: Fill the container halfway with compost.

Step 3: Place your spring bulbs on top of the compost, leaving a little space between each bulb.

Step 4: Cover the bulbs with another layer of compost.

Step 5: Plant your chosen autumn/winter bedding on top, filling any gaps with extra compost.

Step 6: Give your container a good drink of water and place it in a suitable spot.

The best part? Enjoy your seasonal bedding through autumn and winter, then watch your spring bulbs emerge for a surprise burst of colour!
