Perrywood Delivers Christmas Cheer to Local Community Volunteers
This December, our teams from Perrywood Garden Centres in Tiptree, Sudbury and Buckhatch were busy spreading festive cheer beyond our garden centres, delivering Christmas Cheer planted containers to three fantastic groups of community volunteers.
We were delighted to visit the Tiptree Community Hub, ActiveGardens in Sudbury and Wickford in Bloom – all organisations powered by dedicated volunteers who make a real difference to their local communities throughout the year.
At the heart of Tiptree, the Community Hub provides a welcoming space for residents, supported by a team of 20 volunteers. From running the Community Fridge, which helps reduce food waste by redistributing surplus food, to hosting a friendly café and activities such as fitness classes and Singing for the Brain, the hub plays an invaluable role in supporting local wellbeing.

In Sudbury, we delivered festive planters to volunteers confirmed as part of ActiveGardens, a project within the ActiveLives charity and one of Perrywood’s chosen charities in 2021. Earlier this year, ActiveGardens supported Perrywood with one of our garden projects as part of the £10,000 Charity Planting Campaign. The Christmas Cheer planters were gifted to volunteers working on a Community Growing Project at the historic Belle Vue Park.

We also visited Wickford in Bloom, a passionate volunteer group responsible for planting and maintaining 53 low-level containers throughout Wickford town centre, all with the aim of adding colour through flowers. During 2025, Perrywood was proud to support the group by supplying plants for several larger planters on Wickford High Street as part of our £10,000 Charity Planting Campaign.

Louise Smith, Senior Communications Manager at Perrywood, said:
“Delivering the Christmas Cheer planters is always a very enjoyable and humbling. Meeting the volunteers and hearing about the incredible work they do in their communities is always inspiring. The groups we’ve chosen this year are made up of people who are extremely hardworking and dedicated, and without their regular help, so much vital community support simply wouldn’t be possible. Being able to thank them at Christmas is a real privilege.”
Supporting local communities is something we’re very passionate about at Perrywood, and we’re proud to recognise the volunteers who help make our towns and villages brighter, greener and more connected – especially at this time of year.
